This serving platter is created  from ancient Swamp Kauri salvaged from the fertile farm land of the Waikato, it is these fertile soils and ancient wetlands that give this naturally fallen and long buried timber it’s rich and individual colouring. Samples of timber from the same source as this piece have been carbon dated at between 18 and 20 thousand years old.

Having found this special timber I spent time ensuring it was flat enough to do it’s job, the split was filled with black resin, the board was deeply waxed with our inhouse made, food safe JK Bespoke Manuka Hive Bees Wax and then fitted with a pair JK Bespoke’s workshop made and slightly “rustic”steel handles, the result is a unique one off serving platter ideal for it’s intended use or as a static centre piece on any dining table.
